The Project

“Permaculture” @ Jane Street Community Garden, West End

This time around we met at Jane Street Community Garden in West End, to find out how permaculture principles are helping build more sustainable and connected communities.

We had the opportunity to hear from leading local permaculture professionals and enthusiasts, including Brother Joe Smith, a Buddhist monk who has created his very own permaculture and sustainability wonderland in Logan Village. It was an absolute pleasure to get insight into the purpose and work of the Jane St Community Garden provided by the volunteers running it. We also wandered through the community garden, which features about 200 varieties of edible plants, including salad greens, vegetables, herbs, fruit and butterfly and insect attracting plants.
